Meet Your Life Coach
This weekend I got to spend a lot of time bouncing between different groups of people and having lively conversations (the summer of going to parties and meeting new people is going swimmingly). Chatting and sharing with people that I know from different eras in my life reminded me just how wild of a ride its been, and how every life I’ve lived informs my work.
Here are just a few of the things aside from clinical training and my own personal healing that I often forget are influencing my work everyday:
1. During college I slept in a tent outside of City Hall at Occupy Buffalo for three months.
(I still went to school, had a part time job, and showered at home). This was my first education in how wealth inequality and corporate influence have hamstrung our democracy. Social justice has always been a core value of mine. I don’t believe in being apolitical, and my work never will be.
2. I cut my teeth as a therapist working with sex offenders.
I spent a year of graduate school interning as a therapist for a Pennsylvania Department of Corrections sex offender reintegration program. Would not recommend. But! It did allow me to quickly hone direct communication and therapeutic confrontation skills. Now, I do a lot of work with survivors of sexual abuse and assault.
3. I am a trained and experienced death doula.
Having died before, this education allowed me to heal my relationship with death. Now, the intimacy I’ve built with mortality infuses my work every day. I believe our time is precious, and that it is urgent that we don't merely exist, but truly live while we’re here.
4. I have been studying manifestation for almost a decade.
Understanding manifestation has actually been the driving force for my own healing journey. I know that our life is a reflection of who believe ourselves to be unconsciously. I love helping clients heal into their power so they can create the life they want, rather than being passive recipients of it.
So if you already work with me and are wondering where the hell I’m pulling from sometimes… it might be one of these! If after reading you’re interested in working together, reach out! You can use the button below.
